Short Blog - My Brother’s PhD

So, my brother is currently doing a PhD in computer science, where you learn about the coding and stuff, and his project is to create and AI piece of software that can randomly generate a games sounds, story, characters all of the pieces of a video game.

The software has created some games and they have been quite popular, but I thought about this and promoting it will help him a lot so, here is my “challenge” of sorts for you, yes you, reader.

So this is what I ask:

  1. Head on over to his official website http://www.gamesbyangelina.org/. The games follow the same basic 2D design but they are still fun to play.
  2. Comment on his posts giving him as much support as possible.
  3. Reblog this and share it with the world :).

He does sometimes need a lot of help deciding, for example, certain colour schemes on enemies and such. Thank you for reading this it is so appreciated :)

Education - *Serious face* rant.

Well first blog in a while, lets make it a good one and talk about the education at my school.

I am currently in year 11 at my school (if you are Canadian or American, the end of my “high school” years) and for the past 5 years I have found that The Bishop of Winchester education system really needs to up it’s game.

In 2010 my school was granted by the government £13,000,000 to refurbish the entire school on the outside and inside, to bring new equipment for lessons and to help students revise using better resources. Now, when I say new equipment, I basically mean they used the money to fund the schools look not the lessons.
Take music, I take it as a GCSE and I am doing quite well in it, we used to have Macintosh computers in the room which ran the normal software and we could record our work with ease, yes they did spend some money on buying new computers which run a program called Cubase so we can record our compositions, but the fact that this software doesn’t even work makes it sound like our principal looked at some computers and software and thought ‘that’ll do’.
The 3 Macs we still have are limited in their uses, they either have sound issues or we can’t login with our normal accounts, but the main problem was probably recording our performances, when we were on the day of recording the people playing drums couldn’t actually do so, the clutch was stolen for the high hat pedal and one of the drums was wrecked, the drum teacher went out and had to pay for new clutch pedals with his own money now if anything I’m pretty sure the school should have covered it.

Having Media Studies as another topic has allowed me to understand what goes on behind television and film. Yes, but with the three teachers we have had over the past 3 years it’s a surprise I can actually remember the terminology.
Remember the Macs we  had in the music room? Yeah? Guess where they are now? In art … Oh no not media studies so people can create their films, posters and advertisement on them they give them to art which, from what I’ve gathered, have not touched them!

Admittedly by now you have probably stopped reading if you are one of the people that is going to bring down humanity (you see I can say that because you have stopped reading it) but if you haven’t thank you, today I just wanted to get this out of my system and actually share with people my thoughts on the education in certain schools … Okay maybe just my school but still it gives a good representation of what others could possibly be.
